This reflective journal attempts to provide insight for an overview of my theoretical learning experience learning "Blood Transfusion". Based on this, the Gibbs (1998) reflective cycle would be followed to learn the experience.
In my class, I have learned the importance of blood transfusion roles, which is the important and the criticality to cross check facts and findings.
I was first taken aback and my first reaction was thinking about the problems and the challenges which can be faced, during my class. It is important to cross-check and understand nursing role during the blood transfusion stages.
In my opinion, during my class, I have evaluated the potential negligence can be on account of the mismatch of blood units to the patient blood can lead to patient fatality (Cap, et al, 2018).
In my analysis, it is also important to check the blood incompatibility, potential threat causing the contamination of red cells during my class (Goodnough, 2017).
To conclude, the nurse's role should follow their role diligently and be transparent in their findings. The professional role of nurses should delicately handle the patient cases, as it would have cascading effects. Any slight misjudgment and even the administration errors while checking the blood transfusion can prove to be a patient fatality.
The action plan is to discuss and be attentive to the details, rather than passive (Vincent, et al, 2018). I would ask the fellow nurses to recheck and cross check for any errors (Murphy, 2017).
