It is liable for promoting the problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities of the individual through which academic success can be acquired. This report is based on the dissertation topic examining the effects of decarbonization impacting organization leadership management towards the shipping industry in Singapore (Ezinna, Nwanmuoh and Ozumba, 2021) . The dissertation is accomplished and this section will illustrate the knowledge acquired through the project that involves positive and negatives related to the work that is conducted. For this Gibbs's reflective model will be used to provide precise knowledge on the experience acquired.
Reflection denotes the process to identify, question, and assess the deep assumptions regarding the knowledge that is being perceived from the issue or event, actions, feelings and beliefs. It assists the researcher in having a self-assessment regarding what is learned throughout the process through which self-improvisations can be done. In this context, Gibbs's reflective cycle can be utilised, it refers to the framework that gives structure for processing the learning from experiences of individuals with the usage of six stages (Adeani, Febriani and Syafryadin, 2020). It acts as a structured approach that allows researchers to systematically think about the experiences that they acquired through the dissertation. The different stages related to the processes to illustrate the learning are provided below:
It implies describing the experience, event or situation without interpretation or judgements. The dissertation is based on the impact of decarbonisation on leadership management within the shipping industry. I started with understanding the meaning of decarbonisation so that the overall impact can be analysed. Decarbonisation refers to the process by which carbon is emitted into the atmosphere through several methods. According to my opinion concerning current climatic scenarios, decarbonisation contributes to global warming and is one of the very serious concerns when it comes to the environment (Wu and Parker, 2017). Burning of carbon and fossil fuels releases impacts the environment by trapping the air and also contributes to air pollution. The research will help to identify the effects and thereby proposing and alternative strategies which can help to reduce the carbon emission coming from the industry. Singapore is already facing major global warming issues due to excessive carbon emissions and the shipping industry is adding up to the problem. We need to be kept in mind that the shipping industry is a major source of trade and economy within the country.
I feel that leadership will help in forming strategies and taking measures that will help the industry in controlling carbon emissions. Singapore has numerous ports and the marine business contributes approximately 80 percent of world trade. If the rising concerns related to carbonisation are not taken seriously then it might impact the business of the industry. The application of effective leadership will help the industry to be more prudent and become more aware of the ideas to protect the environment, decarbonisation is one such policy that will help both the industry to grow and reduce global warming. I think that the leadership qualities in the shipping industry have to be improvised through which they can improvise and formulate the required strategies (Lau et al., 2021). The adoption of leadership strategies will help in better implications of the alternative policies which will be used by the shipping industry to deal with the problems concerning carbonisation. Time management was a critical issue for me as research requires relevant time and I feel more insight or analysis can be done of the information that is attained. I feel that leadership depends on the allocation of resources by the management through which they can attain precise outcomes and deliver their functions accordingly, when they will not have efficient resources then there will be issues. A leader is liable for bringing change within the industry and building up motivating outcomes.
The dissertation is based on leadership, management and decarbonisation, the inclined knowledge was attained into the topic that will assist in future while maintaining the team or working in the organization (Yaacob et al., 2021). Another positive that is attained through this is communication assisted to interact with others through which relevant information from diverse sources was attained. I found that time management was essential in this and it didn’t go well here, the time that I took for conducting a literature review and sections of findings and analysis took time. I felt that a precise research approach or method for having analysis was not right which depicts that I lack proper critical analytical abilities through which management of work did not go as per was required by me. There is a lack of knowledge on how different sections can be approached but through the usage of creativity and zeal to learn more the dissertation was accomplished on time and as per the requirements. I think there is scope for improvement that I will consider in my next work such as understanding the section that needs more time, etc.
I think the overall experience of conducting a dissertation on this topic was effective as it assisted in the creation of relevant knowledge regarding the topic, industry, and country. Further, insight is attained into how leadership is impacted through diverse aspects within the company and how they deal with it through the usage of different theories and styles so that altering requirements of the marketplace can be handled. The experience enabled me to determine the flaws that were identified while working on the dissertation. Time management and critical analytical skills have to be developed so that in future if any issue or the project has to be done then it can be accomplished as per the requirements.
The positive that is identified during the work was knowledge regarding the topic that helped me to accomplish the requirements of the dissertation. The critical challenge was the aim of the study but I had a prior understanding of leadership and how it is utilized by the organization I learnt through the completion of the work. An effective outcome was attained through this. Communication skills assisted to gain in-depth insight into the topic through peers, and classmates (Wain, 2017). It is analysed that Transactional leadership is the mind of leadership that will help to maintain the flow of communication within the organisation. This leadership is based on the idea that managers allocate the employee with any kind of task or idea with the purpose to get something in exchange for that work (Ali and Anwar, 2021). I think that it enables to bring change within the organization quickly as per the requirements of the organization and market.
Based on the above discussion, it is acknowledged that two areas time management and critical analytical abilities on which I need to work. Communication is an asset but this can also be improvised further to boost the confidence while assessing any kind of knowledge. The dissertation was conducted as per the required standards and a relevant outcome was attained which denotes that I have acquired the goals and objectives of the work.
It denotes the set of actions that can be taken for enhancing the capabilities and skills so that better and more precise actions can be taken. Here, it is important based on the analysis that effective steps are being taken for enhancement of the flaws that have been determined, that are time management, critical analytical abilities, and communication skills. It can be concluded that the dissertation not only assisted in developing the knowledge on the topic that is being studied but it also assisted in analysing the flaws that are present within me. It enabled to analyse my own experience in a structured manner and have my perspective on what went well and what did not. It assisted in having an opportunity to improve my skills and capabilities so that while delivering my services I can excel in these. The action plan is presented for self-development that includes communication, time management and critical analytical abilities.
