The child developmental theory majorly focuses on the children being taught and changed to grow throughout childhood. This developmental theory majorly focuses on several aspects of growth and these include emotional, cognitive, emotional, and social development. The study of human development is rich and has various subjects and experiences that need to be adapted. Development of a child majorly occurs from birth till adulthood and it was not considered throughout human history (Beltre & Mendez,2022). Children are often viewed as a small version of adults and very little consideration was paid to the several advancement in cognitive ability, physical growth, and language usage which occur during adolescence and childhood. Developmental theory is highly important because it provides a framework in which human learning and growth need to be understood and it should be acted on. In several psychological theories, childhood experiences have been studied and several reasons have led to mental illness (Malvika & Marwaha, 2022).
The sociocultural theory is a type of cognitive development that overview the influence the world has on individual development. It also focuses on learning in the social processes while the development can only occur through interaction with the people who possess much more knowledge or skills when compared to the learner. This theory stresses the role which social interaction plays in psychological development. It also suggests that human learning is highly important in the social process and it also impacts cognitive function. The theory majorly focuses on the cultural beliefs and attitudes which affect learning (Vasileva, O., & Balyasnikova, 2019). A very important concept of the socio-cultural theory is the Zone of Proximal development, it helps to determine the actual development and the problem-solving technique which is adopted. In addition to it, it is also capable of learning with guidance, and the children are allowed to use their skills and knowledge. This theory majorly covers two aspects and these are the different factors that influence social development and how development can differ between cultures (Lantz & Ray, 2022).
The other theory which is used is the Socio-Behaviourist theory, this theory obeys all the laws and they are less likely to commit any crime if they have learned some important factors which are: self-control, attachment to family, friends, and education. It also includes social-behaviour theory, which consists of the implementation of socio-behavioral knowledge in the problem-solving process. The major idea of the theory is that the ways people interact with each other and how the culture they live in also shapes mental ability. The key fundamental theory which needs to be taken care of is: social interaction plays an important role in the process of learning. In addition to it, learning also occurs if it occurs within the Zone of Proximal Development. There are several behavioral types and all these are studied and explained. Some of the common behavioural types are Dominance (or “D-Type”) Influence (or “i-Type”) Steadiness (or “S-Type”) Conscientiousness (or “C-Type”) (Sleet & Dellinger, 2020).
The best theory according to me is the child development theory. This theory is highly important as it discusses several aspects of child development and how it helps to improve the practices and development which take place. The child development theory majorly focuses on the children's cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical, and social growth over time. This theory is highly important because it will help the children to develop and learn several aspects of their growth and in addition to it, it also helps to predict future behaviour and the guidance which is used in the teaching method. In the process of child development, several aspects need to be taken into consideration, when all these aspects are taken care of then only it will result in the complete development of the child (Misirliyan et al., 2023). It provides a highly important structure of individual growth, hence, it should be taken care of. Having an understanding of this theory will help me to provide the best care to the children in all aspects and all their needs are also taken care of. This theory can be applied to practice in several ways and some of them are mentioned below. As it provides ideas about how to take care of infants, the care steps of the infant are planned in the same manner. It will also help to provide an idea about how a child's development unfolds, what are the several sources of vulnerability, and the protective factors which influence the child's development. Cognitive development is highly helpful as it takes care of several aspects, and it is highly essential in the overall development of the child (Likhar et al., 2022).
The theory which I have chosen is the developmental theory and this can very easily be applied to practice. This development theory is highly useful in providing insight into how the performance of the child or individual is stimulated, directed, or sustained. In addition to it, it is also encouraged and it should be applied to practice accordingly. As a teacher, I would use it to map out the content in the instruction unit such as Weeks, topics, and modules. Other than this, it also includes some measurable student learning objectives at the very beginning of each of the instruction units. Some consistent pages are created and it is essential as it will help the student to get accustomed to where the information is located and how it can be used. It is highly important to work with the instructional designer and work toward the welfare of the children. In addition to it, as a teacher, I would be able to provide a plan for the environment, some daily activities, and a schedule so child development and learning can be promoted (Orenstein & Lewis, 2022). The educators can take care of it, first hand, and meaningful experience is provided. Several inviting exploration, investigation, and sustained environments need to be taken care of. All the things which are mentioned above are highly important as it helps to provide an idea about how to take care of the children, and how effectively things can be managed. Learning about developmental theories will also allow the teachers to learn and understand the student's needs. With the use of different learning methods, teachers can also develop more comprehensive learning strategies and also it will allow the students to find success in their education and development process (Masten & Barnes, 2018). The reflection makes me understand how the practices are going to be improved that is addressing the need of the educator and learner. It enhances the outcomes of development journey and meet the expectations.
