How newspaper journalists reframe product press release informationI identified through the study that newspaper journalism depends on PR sources and news agencies to gather and reframe information in the best possible way. I recognized that newspaper journalism is in dwindling phase because consumers these days are turning towards the internet to gain information. This has decreased the overall sale and has made it an object of concern. Many of the researchers brought the dirty secret of journalism in the world by stating that most the newspaper journals are prepared partially or completely using the press releases. Some of the phrases used by newspaper journalists include discovery phase, new gathering phase and writing phase. It is in the hand of a journalist how to mould the information and make it into a story (Maat amp de Jong, 2013). The report is composed in the final stage of the production process. I realised that the news journalist often modifies the new event by modifying definitions that they receive from the new actors. In order to make the news interesting, the journalist often adds opposition voices and highlight angles. Other researchers suggested that in addition to attracting the consumers sometimes journalist adds some irrelevant information by modifying the content and adding some spice to the news. It has been analysed that the data must be displayed in such a way that readers can gain some valuable source of information from them. I found that a press release of a new product has to pass through different steps or operations. Some of these operations include section, expansion and transformation of information. This is why it can be stated that a report and a press release is totally different from one another.
I could make out that a news report contains10 less product information and give 10 more contextual information. In addition to this, it was also evaluated by me that a report may contain both negative and positive aspects but a press release of a new product from a corporate environment demonstrates a degree of partiality by stating about positive features and other specifications. This indicates that report and press release differ in their evaluation processes. It is because the report is not written from the companys perspective, as a result, the information is presented in two different genres with respect to the product release and that of the report. Through analysis, it is identified that press releases have higher frequencies for product innovation and characterizations (Maat amp de Jong, 2013). This adds advertising frames in the releases whereas reports add two other frames as well. These include consumer perception, restrictions, disadvantages of the products and various competitors in the market. The business frame of the press release helps the company to reach their respective goals and flourish in the marketplace. The product release demonstrates the product in terms of competitive strategies and also in terms of the earlier business moves. I concluded from the study that reports are critical about the information whereas press release of a product is non-critical.
Effective press releaseAfter reading the journal I found that press release has become one of the most significant tools to successfully promote a product of an organization. The press release can take place in the organization when the company needs to launch a new product in the market. It takes a few seconds with the help of online marketing to spread the news about the product on different kinds of search engines. It will help thousands of journalists to review the product and expand its promotion in the market. It is very important for the company to improve its brand image. Moreover, I identified that a company can press release as many times as they want. In addition to this, it has been identified that many press releases can automatically improve the brand image of the company. According to me, the best idea evaluated from the study is to add images for helping drive the interest of the organization. Multimedia is one of the best resources for conveying information to the mass audience. The objective of an effective press release is to demonstrate a product in an interesting story which has the potential to engage a large number of customers towards it. To write an effective press release I found that it is very important to have a noteworthy story of the product (Ashcroft, 1994). The journalist must write a killer headline with some phrase or taglines. In addition to this, it is also important to keep the press release of the product concise in length. The top line of the press release is asked to be put in the first line of the release.
I analysed that it is vital for the organization to grab the audience attention by placing a very attractive line. It is also significant for an organization to understand that press releases occur for a very short period of time specifically for a few seconds. Therefore it becomes very difficult for the company to talk about all the essential features of the product. I analysed that to maximise the chance of press coverage it is very important to tweak the idea in the best possible way. It is also identified that a short outline of the idea in the press release makes the press release more efficient and attractive. The press release must be grammatically flawless so that people get engaged to it. The company during the press release must target a particular media sector. Along with this, the press release statements must answer the three questions which include who, when, how, what, where and why. It has also been advised by the researches to use an inverted pyramid for structuring the press release (Ashcroft, 1994). It helps the authorised person to represent the most important information. It has observed from the findings that media does not have the time to plough and find the details of the product thus use of template in the press release can cut short the detailed information and make it more appealing to eyes with the help of infographics. According to me, all the ideas suggested by the researchers in the study are efficient and can help the company to successfully promote the product in social media and other places.
