Assessment 2

Issue Increases in drug addiction and overdoses
Drug addiction rates are rising all over the world at rapid speed and there are several reasons that promote drug addiction such as availability of the drugs, usage of the drug in a more fashionable way. It refers to the substance that triggers the individuals behaviour which makes them uncontrollable. The substances such as nicotine, alcohol, marijuana are popular and can be widely used by persons. When the person gets addicted towards these substances, they feel compelled and use them again and again even they know it is harmful to their body, brain as well as to their life (Holmes, 2012). The aspects that cause drug addiction are genetics and the environment where an individual grows. The genetics of the person show how their body and brain react to the specific drug. The environmental factors involve access to the healthcare centres, group members that encourage beliefs and attitude of an individual towards the drug.
It has been observed that the illegal use of drug results in killing people in a very huge number (Madras, 2018). The people are continuously dying because of overdoses. The most used drugs among people are cocaine and meth. Easy availability of drugs such as marijuana, nicotine and alcohol is also one of the major factors that increase assumption of drugs among the persons. It is a very painful experience for the individuals that are facing problems as well as their family members also suffer a lot. The people use these substances such as alcohol, nicotine without following the prescribed way which leads to addiction and overdose. The excessive usage of drugs become dangerous for users and cannot be stopped without the intervention of doctors. Some peoples have to admit to the hospitals and undergo a short treatment in order to get detoxified. People get more involved in taking drugs whenever they face any difficulties such as getting divorced, break-ups and many other reasons.
It has been noticed that every medicine has the potential risk of side effects. Opioids are one of the best most effective treatments for pain but excessive use of this medicine leads to addiction which results in damaging the brain (Schwartz et al., 2013). In order to do good for the community, it is essential to reduce the level of drug addiction and overdose. There are several challenges that have been faced by the governments as well as health organisations such as aggressive behaviour in childhood is one of the major challenges that increase the usage of the drug. The parents do not have much control over their children because of their busy schedule. If individuals have poor social skills, then the chances of getting involved in taking drug increases. Excessive usage of drug changes the structure and working of the brain which leads to loss of self-control (Volkow, 2014). A person is not able to stop this habit by themselves they need a doctors consultation. The several factors that contribute to drug addiction are mental health disorder, peer-pressure, depression and loneliness. It is the fact that when the person does not have many options, they are more likely to indulge in the drugs. Mental disorder health is also one of the major aspects that increase the level of drug addiction in patients. It has been noticed that several persons who are facing metal disorder issues are more likely to use drugs and alcohol approximately three times more than others.
There are several efforts that have been made by the local as well as state-level government and non-profit organisations to reduce the number of deaths due to an overdose of drugs. The non-profit organisations must put more efforts and apply different strategies in order to take control of drug addiction. Apart from these, several rules and regulation must be introduced so that usage of the drug by the children and teenagers can be reduced. There are many people still available in the community who becomes more addictive to substances such as heroin and opioids. These substances make the health of the individuals worst. They have to undergo special treatment in order to overcome their addiction. Being a part of the Addiction Centre community, it is my responsibility to reduce the level of drug addiction and control the deaths by over-dosing.
