CINAHL Database
CINAHL Database can be referred to as the Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature. CINAHL can be characterized as one of the major databases that index articles and documents including a broad range of concepts covering the allied health and nursing disciplines. The database covers most of the subjects relating to consumer health, behavioural sciences, biomedicine, and education. As the clinical question relates to the healthcare discipline, integrating CINAHL into the research process will prove to be one of the biggest strengths of the research. Wright, Golder, and Lewis-Light (2015), states that the CINAHL Database is generally considered to be the good source that can be used to access journals and articles when conducting the review of qualitative evidence. The CINAHL Database has been considered as the most respected research tool across the globe that extensively provides indexing for more than 3,075 nursing and allied health journals (EBSCO, 2019b).
The distinctive feature of the CINAHL Database provides an interactive and easy to use interface that provides both the basic and the advanced search features and the searchable cited references. The characteristic features of the CINAHL Database, CINAHL Subject Headings, facilitates the users in the process of effective search related to the clinical questions and also helps in retrieving the information following the structure of the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) that is used by the National Library of Medicine (EBSCO, 2019a). In addition to the features of searches related to the disease condition, it also provides evidence-based care sheets involving summaries of the treatment plan of the disease conditions. It can also be noticed that the CINAHL Database is accountable for providing access to the books related to the healthcare, books, nursing dissertations, practice standards, audiovisuals, selected conference proceedings and other book chapters. It encompasses a broad range of clinical innovations, legal cases, full-text journals, critical paths, and clinical trials.
ClinicalKey
Brown in 2013 explained that ClinicalKey is a product, a search engine, aimed to be used by clinical physicians. It consists of more than 540 journals and 1,100 books along with 4,000 plus guidelines. In addition, it has more than 4 million searchable images and more than 18,000 videos which can be accessed depending on the users needs. It is a powerful tool that allows the user to access a plethora of useful information with the click of a button. ClinicalKey provides physicians with relevant as well as evidence-based surgical and medical information. ClinicalKey uses smart search which saves time as it shows only the relevant data and prevents unnecessary searches. If the user knows what they are looking for, they can simply use the browser option to get access to journals, books, and more. Furthermore, it allows filtering the results to narrow down your search to the specific requirement.
One of the most useful features of ClinicalKey is its presentation maker which allows the user to use images from its database for preparing presentation and facilitates managing more than one presentation at a time while providing the functionality of automatic citations. ClinicalKey provides the option of infobutton integration which allows the clinicians to receive access to all services like books, videos, journals and more. Furthermore, this integration gives the physicians a quick access to the required information. The API of ClinicalKey is designed in a such way which promotes easy integration and use and the strategy for its effective implementation is something which is monitored by the ClinicalKey specialists. These all different reasons make it a strong tool for performing clinical searches and achieving research goals effectively.
