• Critically reflect on historical and contemporary issues affecting the relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous Australians
• Develop knowledge, skills and attitudes for positive engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as they receive healthcare
• Interpret and analyse rudimentary healthcare data for of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Australians

Video Presentation – ALL students are to submit a presentation in a video format online (with power point). The presentation is an individual presentation and students can choose (1) one area of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health that they have an interest in. Students will need to: define why the topic they have choosen is relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health (include some statistics) and discuss and explore the issue (for example a student may discuss the prevatence of diabetes in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and may examine how health professionals can work with patients in a culturally respectful manner in regard to treatment of their condition). Students are NOT required to (and are asked NOT to) seek a solution to the issue they are exploring. Students are required to demonstrate their understanding of the issue they are exploring. In addition to the video presentation, students are required to submit Power Point slides that they used or would have used in the presentation. Students can negotiate to undertake specific topics with the unit convenor.
