Sdg Target to Be Focused on: Climate Change

The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), which is selected here, is towards the welfare of the climate. SDG was adopted by the United Nations in 2015 and it was a universal call and action to end poverty. It also ensures that by 2030, all the people around the globe will experience prosperity and peace. The SDG which is discussed here is the climate change approach. The target has been covered in 13.2, in this all the climate changes are integrated into planning and processes. All the countries across the globe are experiencing climate change which is affecting the well-being of the person, the countries around the globe are working hard to bring positive change, hence the development of policies is required. Greenhouse emission due to climate change has increased to about 50% and this is much higher than in 1990. Global warming also leads to long-lasting changes in the climate system and this presents some irreversible consequences. Salvation Army is the community that is chosen and all the steps selected are aimed to improve it. The course which is collected is working towards it and it helps to improve the experience of the person. The course has helped to identify several causes which have led to climate change and how nurse steps can be taken towards the development of several policies, along with it, it also suggests some factors which can be adopted to improve it. All the vulnerable communities which are present should be supported, and nurses should actively participate to provide the best care (Sachs et al., 2017).

Climate Change

There are about 13 SDGs in total, however, the SDG covered here is climate change, which is a highly important part that needs to be addressed. The target which is selected is how all the climate changes are integrated into planning and processes. Certain actions should go hand in hand and efforts are made to integrate the risk measure of disaster. There are several sustainable natural resource management and risk measures so national developmental strategies need to be adopted. The existing technology which is used is highly helpful and it is also helpful to measure the global mean temperature by about 2 degrees. Climate change is a grave issue and if it is left unchecked it will put a lot of pressure on the development of last year. There are also currently severe ill effects of climate change visible, these are floods and conflict due to water or water scarcity. Several other targets which are present are the strengthening of resources and adaptive capacity for climate disaster, the building of capacity and knowledge to meet climate change, the implementation of the UN framework convention on climate change, and the promotion of mechanisms to increase capacity for management and planning. The temperature of the earth is rising and a warmer climate can increase public health challenges and it can lead to aggravated heat illness, along with it, it can also lead to vector-borne disease. There is also a decrease in access to safe water. If the weather conditions are extreme it can lead to an increase in food prices and there is decreased opportunity to appreciate the natural world (Allen et al., 2020).

How Does the Course Align With It and Several Aspects of Human Dignity, Common Good, and Community

The Salvation Army has been promoted for more than 125 years and several positive changes have been observed. It is helpful for the vulnerable and poorest population. The major goal is to identify the issues and promote values that are similar to salvation. Nurses play a major role in uplifting this community and providing them the care which they require. Since this community is discriminated against it is necessary that the nurses should understand this and effective steps need to be taken to control it. The Salvation Army recognizes the importance of integration, and it focuses attention on SDG in every program. All the goals which are present are not fixed to a particular nation, however, it is universal and for every nation and people. Human dignity needs to be taken care of, in several cases human dignity is affected, hence, steps need to be adopted to protect human dignity. All the aspects of the community which is chosen should be taken care of. Several values are discussed and these values shine through the Bible. It has also helped to inspire Christians for more than 2000 years. All people, without exception, are made in the image of God and are equally precious to him. It also recognizes the importance of integration and how this helps in the future. Nurses play an important role in addressing the impact of climate change on public health. They should be involved in the practice to take care of all the discrimination which is present and act effectively against it (Racioppi et al., 2020).

How Does the Target Account for Human Dignity in the Context of a Specific Global Community

The target community which is chosen is Salvation Army, it is believed that all people hold special value and it is only tied to humanity. It is not at all related to class, race, religion, ability, and gender, other than these several factors that affect human beings. Human dignity should be upheld when people are guaranteed access to basic human rights. The target which is selected is to integrate climate change measures in planning and policies. This target will help to get equal opportunities that need to be taken care of, however, discriminatory treatment should be followed based on sex, social status, sex, and place of residence. Since the policies are designed they will take care of all the discriminatory actions which are taken. The inherent dignity should be accessible to all individuals and human family members. Several components should be taken care of such as freedom, peace, and justice in the world. When Western society is taken into consideration, human dignity is vital. There is some unearned or inherent worth for all humans. The policies which are designed are all aimed to provide equal care to all without any discrimination. They also have human share equality, human dignity is typically treated on the moral basis of human rights. Global community services should be provided in every context. All people should be respected based on human dignity. Opportunity should be considered and it needs to be taken care of. The nurses will be working in the direction to provide equal opportunities to all segments of people and the policies which are developed are for every segment of society (Gera et al., 2018).

Analyzing How the Target Accounts for the Common Good

When the community is mentioned and taken care of, it ensures that human dignity is maintained. Salvation Army is an international Social Justice Commission and it has produced a resource also known as "Go and Do Something". Several practical ideas need to be followed for action, prayer points, and facts about the United Nations' 17 developmental goals. When it is compared to the Agenda 2030, of the United Nation and the Laudato si', both of these are authored in 2015. One important point which stands out is Development enthusiasm in the 20th century. The world is in a problem as the gap between the rich and poor is increasing, hence resource availability is affected. Agenda 2030, majorly work towards repairing the already existing global economic model, which significantly affects the calls to push back the economy. This target will allow the nurses for the cultural shift observed and it is also directed towards eco-solidarity. The post-capitalist era needs to be taken care of, and along with it, nurses should understand it (Shulla et al., 2021).
