Gentleman’s Culture

English is an international language that is used in almost all countries. Now, in modern-day times one without the knowledge of English as a language might have to face some hardships in their lives while communicating. English is not my native language so it was a bit difficult as I am an Indian. Being from an English medium background throughout my academic carrier I was a bit on the well-versed side while interacting in English. I also had to stay in London for a few months due to my job so that helped me a lot to improve my English. This familiarity with the subject had helped me to use it as a communication tool both in my personal and professional life. I remember my initial days of learning English although it was at a very early age I still remember the bits and pieces of them. Like the ways of learning alphabets then using them to form small words or part of words syllables dissection to spell a word better. After I learned of the initial alphabetic sequences and relating them to different things of real existence, I was provided with the story of picturesque books like comics and caricatures to develop my understanding as well as interest in this language. The more I used to see those images the more I would like to read the wordings that are there to understand their feelings. This proved to be very helpful to me. Now when I was in school it was mandatory to talk in English at the initial stages. Gradually while taking with my fellow schoolmates I became familiar with this language even I used some of the literary words which I read from my books /novels in my spare time. Both my reading and communicating approach helped to increase my word of stock I even was the topper in the state of SPELL BEE competition. It has eventually brushed my skills and vocabulary. Although I am not a native English person I prefer English more than any other language. One issue I faced during my visit to London was their accent as I was not well aware of their accent and culture. To denominate this issue I did enroll myself in an online voice and accent teaching course. This has not only made; I understand them but also helped me to communicate with them flawlessly. I at that point in time came to know the importance of VA (Voice and Accent Program). This had greatly helped to negotiate and turn me into a person who is confident and improvised me of being self-sufficient independent women. The culture therein was not only good but was can be called as “Gentleman’s Culture”. They were highly cooperative with me with such a dialect or high impact of MTI (mother tongue influence). Overall all these have helped me to explore the English culture in a better and bigger way.
