Imperial War Museums is a Pitish national museum organisation having five different Panches located at England and three out of five are located in London. It was founded in 1917 and was intended to record the efforts and martyrs of civil and military war of England during the time of the First World War. This study involves reflection of visiting the museum and contains experience that has been taken while visiting. Moreover, it also highlights the construction and artefacts that have been seen and experienced by us.
The visit to the museum was held on 8th March at 2 pm. The students were divided into groups and entered into the museum after getting tickets from the ticket counter. We all get together at the entrance hall of the museum and start exploring. The entrance of the museum was well constructed and it involves the collection of several artefacts including the Pitish militarys personal letters they wrote during the First World War (Walton, 2017). This museum acts as an emotional and moving memorial which involves modern conflicts. It has been voted by the Pitish War Cabinet to develop a national war museum which records the terrific events that occur in Flanders. The main intention behind building the museum is to collect and preserve the artefacts that help in telling stories to the visitors about the First World War, Pitish Empire and their role.
After entering the Imperial War Museum, we were able to see different artefacts of the Pitish military. These artefacts showed with the help of technologies on big screens in the image as well as video formats along with the audio systems. It feels like we are in a real-world situation and experiencing the First World War. It also displays the armours that had been used during the war. The museum has both open environments where weapons are display big weapons such as a vehicle with weapons and inner environment involves displaying pictures in the form of image as well as videos on big screens. While visiting the museum, we are confronted with the conflicts and the struggle of the Pitish military during the world war. It connects us with the nation and the Pitish army. The Museum also involves a scenario of conflicts that are connected with the Second World War (Winter, 2018). It is important to visit the museum for everyone as it describes the history of Pitain and helps the visitors in engaging with the objects displayed in an effective way.
While visiting the museum, we reached to the inner environment of the museum where big screens with audio systems are installed for spreading the history of the Pitish military. It has been designed in a way that it looks like a real-world situation. We get surprised after watching the video which displays the difficulties and struggle faced by the military for solving the conflicts and confronted the enemies at war. At that time, I feel it is necessary to analyse the social problems of our daily life and find solutions for solving them with confidence and a positive attitude. The social problems are established at several levels of life. It can occur by the individuals, group of people such as terrorist, global level issues. There are lots of several issues that have been faced by the people, states, community as well as countries.it is important to face social problems rather than running away from them. According to the conflict theory, the only reason behind the rising of the tensions and conflict is when the resources, status and power is not equally divided among the groups in the society. It is necessary to allocate the resources and power equally among the communities in the societies in order to solve the conflicts effectively. The conflict theory explains the social problems by exploiting groups, dominating other and several other aspects (Jenkins, 2017). It has been observed that society is created by having social interaction and it can be done by interacting with others and know the importance of interacting and understand the behaviour of others. Social life is created through interaction. Symbolic interactionism explains social problems as a situation where behaviour becomes a problem.
In the museum, the displaying of artefacts and military personnel creates an emotional environment where all of us feel attached to the Pitain military. Social construction refers to the degree which helps in perceiving the social problem as problematic. The history of Pitain military during the world war first and second also acts as the social construction as it can be presented to the visitors so that they are able to understand the social problem which had been faced by the nation. It helps in spreading the message to others in an effective way as some people have more power to deliver the message. Critical construction is a mixture of both conflict theory and symbolic interactionism which helps in solving the raised questions or problems (Loseke, 2017). It has been observed that understandings of reality are influenced by experiencing and the knowledge that has been gathered. The social problems can be constructed and are effectively interpreted to others so that they are able to understand the problems appropriately.
Hence, it was a good experience that I have taken by visiting the Imperial War Museum which changes my perception towards social problems. This helps me in gaining precious information involves the history of World War First and World War Second. The theories such as conflict theory, social interaction and symbolic interactionism help in understanding the social problems and provide us with several methods of solving the raised issues. It becomes easy for individuals to share the knowledge after having personal experience that I have taken by visiting the Museum. Thus, I believe that I am able to pass the information in a more effective way to others and encourage them to take initiatives for facing and solving social problems. It also provides a chance of making a connection with others and to understand their behaviour towards social problems.
